This is a demonstration project to show the use of a character-based dropdown through a character format,
DropDownClosed. This implementation provides additional conceptual information or access to imagemap figures that provide information for specific fields in panels, panes, or dialog boxes. It originally was used in WebWorks Publisher Professional 2003 for Framemaker. This project also includes example WebWorks Publisher Professional 2003 for Framemaker WebWorks Help output in another folder that demonstrates the use of this feature.
The dropdown implementation was originally developed in a large RoboHelp-based project. That project was brought into FrameMaker and WebWorks Publisher Professional 2003 for Framemaker. We have created two large multi-volume help sets (WebWorks Help output) using this dropdown implementation.
In the WebWorks Publisher 2003 GUI macro tab, we created a character-based dropdown macro based on the code used for a paragraph dropdown. By using a character-based dropdown, we could also create hypertext links to other topics.
In ePublisher, we had to add new styles to our existing FrameMaker styles to implement the dropdown (we did not have to add new styles in WebWorks Publisher Professional 2003 for Framemaker projects). The new styles are a duplicates of existing FrameMaker styles. The new styles also needed to be added in ePublisher too, with the new styles’ dropdown option set to
closed.
Because the entire ePublisher paragraph is an active dropdown link, we cannot create both the dropdown and hypertext links, as both features will activate so the dropdown appears briefly just as the hypertext jump occurs.
