Automatic update of FrameMaker book when Automap generates documentation

Summary

It would be useful if Automap were capable of updating FrameMaker books before generating output.

Detailed Description

I have a problem with generating two different versions of a manual from a single source. In this case, as well as using conditional text in the individual FM files to create a "full" and a "light" version of the documentation, I have two different FM books, one of which only contains a subset of the chapters used in the "full" version.

My problem is that Automap generates the two versions of the doc, one of the versions will have incorrect chapter numbering in both the HTML and the PDF output. This will depend on which of the two book files was last updated.

My two manuals are named "AMESim" and "AMERun". The AMESim book contains 16 .fm chapters, and the AMERun book contains 12 .fm chapters. If I update the AMESim book and run the generation, the chapter numbering is correct, but if I update the AMERun book and run the AMESim generation, the chapter numbering will be wrong, the HTML TOC lists chapters 1 to 9 correctly, and then jumps to chapter 12 instead of chapter 10. Is there any way to force Automap to update the FM book before generating the HTML/PDF?

MikeHedblom   I had the same problem and eventually had to resort to using Framescript to create the PDFs. I called the script from Automap job's Post-script, and then overwrote what Automap created. -- Mike H.
