Changes in Formats Folder v9.2.2
For the upgrade to ePublisher Pro 9.2.2, many of the underlying files comprising the ePublisher "engine" have been modified in order to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance. Because of these improvements, you may find that the Target or Format overrides you have implemented in a past version no longer work properly. You might get XSL and other file errors in the log during an output conversion. This is because the files you have overridden are looking for files and templates that either no longer exist, or have been modified in such a way as to cause a conflict in the build process.
In order to get these customizations working again in the newest version, you will need to update the files used in the overrides. In some cases, you may no longer need an override to achieve the look or behavior you're after. In other cases, though, you will need to perform a new override on the most recent edition of the affected file, applying equivalent changes to create the same effect in your output that you got from the old override. It's not the most convenient process, but it is necessary for functional output in your project and the evolution of our products.
To make the upgrade process a little easier, we have compiled a list of the files that have been changed, and the changes that have been made. Below, you will find a list of ZIP files—one for each output format. Each ZIP file contains the directory and file structure you will find in the ePublisher Pro/Formats directory by default. Within these folders, we have created an HTML file which demonstrates the additions, deletions, and changes made to each file (Old file on the left, new file on the right).
If a file you have overridden is not included in the ZIP, then it was not changed during the upgrade, and you can use it as-is in the new version. Otherwise, you have two options:
- Try applying the changes highlighted in the HTML file to the overridden file in your project.
- Start with a new copy of the default 9.2.2 version of the file, and apply your override changes where appropriate.
We hope you find this information helpful during your upgrade to the newest and best version of the WebWorks ePublisher Platform.
