How to change the search text (or other WebWorks Help 5.0 messages)

Most of modifiable text messages in the WebWorks Help 5.0 output are defined in a file called 'messages.xml', located by default in your ePublisher Pro installation directory, here: ePublisher Pro\Formats\WebWorks Help 5.0\Files\wwhelp\messages.xml

While you can modify the file in its place to affect all of your projects, it's not a good idea to make this global change. The next time you reinstall or upgrade your ePublisher installation, those changes will be overwritten.

Rather, we always recommend that you perform a project override to make a change like this. It involves recreating the default directory structure in your project directory and changing a copy of the file there. For more information on performing overrides, please see this TechNote article: http://webworks.com/Technical_Assistance/Tech_Notes/Common/EX_ePub_Project_Format_Overrides.shtml

Once you have copied the file into the appropriate folder in your project directory, open it with a text- or XML editor (e.g., NotePad). Locate the appropriate locale (for example, locale="en"). Then, change the value for each message string, as desired. Finally, save the document and regenerate output to apply the changes.

You can then save those changes as part of a stationery for use in additional ePublisher Express publication projects.
