PDF Generation is delayed when using Windows 7
Issue
Users will have an intermittent issue with Windows 7 where the PDF generation is delayed and will see a warning in the PDF pipeline about not being able to generate PDF and also will see an error message about relying on system fonts with FrameMaker.
Solution
Even if just using system fonts in the source document, it can cause problems for PDF generation if the Printing Preferences are not set a certain way with some systems. To resolve this, complete the following steps:
Click Start-->Devices and Printers (can also be accessed from the Control Panel).
- Right-click the Adobe PDF icon.
- Select Printing Preferences.
- Select the Adobe PDF Settings tab.
- Clear the box preceding "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts. Click OK.
- Right-click the Adobe PDF icon again.
- Select Printer Properties.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Click the Printing Defaults... button at the bottom.
- Select the Adobe PDF Settings tab.
- Clear the box preceding "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts. Click OK twice.
- Repeat when Adobe next does an automatic update.
