PDF Process with Certain Graphics
Issue
Grey box in place of the image is outputted when generating with PDF
Solution
This is due to processing of a graphic that contains Ä or some other foreign language character. The two workarounds are as follows:
- Change the character of the graphic file name, or
- Opt for the PDF-XSL format and all graphics output as expected
This situation can arise when files are authored in one locale (say German) and then published using another locale (say English) where the character is not valid for the given UI. This results in an encoding issue, which should only be a problem with non-Unicode applications such as FrameMaker 7. FrameMaker 8, FrameMaker 9, and all support versions of Microsoft Word fully support Unicode character handling.
